About Michael F. Taylor Interiors

&

Accentiques

ACCENTIQUES was established, by me Michael Taylor,  in 1981 in Brooklyn, New York. In the neighborhood of Prospect Heights/Park Slope at Flatbush & Seventh Avenue. An area which in 1986 had been defined by the New York Time as "up and coming neighborhood which one day would be the "Greenwich Village of Brooklyn".

During this time these homeowners who then were called either "yuppies & buppies" found themselves restoring/refurbishing apartments within their   brownstones. Or the converting of their brownstone back in to a single  family home..

Accentiques became an important go to place, for those seeking used collectable &  antique furniture, carpets  decorative items and lighting for their interiors.

Over the years I was oftened asked if I could either decorate or help with space planing. My response was always the same.

"I  can't because I am not trained as an interior designer".  With this thought in mind in 2010 I decided to take a few classes at the ** New York School of Interior Design   A few classes turned into an Associate's Degree then a Bachelor Degree and then and Masters Degree in the fine art Professional Studies in Lighting Design.

Today, Accentiques is no longer a brick and mortar store-front. Today I work from my studio.not only  designing interiors for clients, but also assisting clients in sourcing furniture, art work, carpets/rugs decorative items etc.

I am here to inspire you with wonderful and hopefully intersting and creative ideas,
