When you enter you are standing at the entrance and the living area; and you immediately see the kitchen in the background. It is not unplesant, however, the owner wanted a felling of a larger living room. This meant hiding the kitchen. This was achieved by placing a flush door at the kitchen entrance and extending the wood slat paneling to the window. The wood slats hide the opening around the door perfectly. When pushed on the right side the door pivots and opens into the living area.

Orginally this studio apartment was divided into two seperate sections, a living area and a sleep area, by a floor to ceiling paneled wall with a door entering the sleep area. The wall made the apartment feel small anddark. Wanting to keep two distinct and separate areas the panel wall was replaced with an L shaped glass block wall that still maintains the integrity of two separate areas but it allows more lignt into the entire apartment.

Dimmable LEDs at the top of the wood slat panel create a cove light affect in the room at night.
